World IP Day event emphasises importance of IP protection in sports industry

Last Friday, we celebrated World Intellectual Property (IP) Day, which aims to raise awareness of the importance of IP in supporting innovation and creativity. This year's theme for the day was ‘Reach for Gold: IP and Sports’. On this occasion, AmCham EU, together with the Federation of the European Sporting Goods Industry and the US Patent and Trademark Office, organised an event on ‘The Value of IP and New Ways of Infringement in the Sports Industry’.

European AmChams visit to DC focuses on transatlantic cooperation

US business: Article 50 extension a positive development, but business needs long-term certainty

The American Chamber of Commerce to the European Union (AmCham EU) regrets that, nearly three years since the referendum, the EU and the UK are still faced with Brexit uncertainty. Susan Danger, CEO, AmCham EU, said:  'AmCham EU supports last night’s decision by EU leaders to extend the Article 50 procedure until the end of October to avoid the imminent threat of a No Deal scenario’.

March EU Electoral Campaigns Plenary

On Tuesday, 19 March, ahead of the European elections in May, AmCham EU hosted a plenary session on the 2019 European Electoral Campaigns. We believed it was timely to host a forward-looking discussion on the campaigns at both European and national level as well as the challenges that many European parties are facing in the current political climate, alongside some early predictions on how the Parliament might look after the elections.

Whether in pay, promotion or politics, equality is beneficial to everyone and by investing in this change, we are investing in a better future for all. The business community, specifically US companies, recognise this need and are committed to engaging in difficult but important conversations alongside targeted actions. 

AmCham EU and its members are committed to fostering discussion and sharing best practices through our Gender Initiatives Task Force. In addition, one of AmCham EU’s Agenda for Action 2019-2024 priority areas focuses on Empowering People, which includes supporting industry-led initiatives to promote diversity and inclusion in the workplace.
