AmCham EU attends Transatlantic Business Conference in Frankfurt
On Wednesday, 25 and Thursday, 26 October Roger Coelho of AmCham EU attended the 11th Annual Transatlantic Business Conference organised by AmCham Germany in Frankfurt.
Through various panels, the conference explored what the future holds for transatlantic relations, in particular for the US-Germany relationship. Germany is currently in the process of negotiating a new governing coalition, which will impact the country’s global outlook and could impact its approach towards Washington.
One speaker that got everyone’s attention was John Boehner, Former Speaker of the United States House of Representatives, who reasoned that the current US administration is still learning and it is too early to pass judgement. Rather, he called for Europe to engage and push the message of the importance of the EU for US prosperity.
Other discussions considered the role of technology with a focus on artificial intelligence (AI), trade and the future of manufacturing. Finally, throughout the conference participants were invited to contribute to a Communiqué on ‘The Principles of Cooperation and Prosperity in the Transatlantic Marketplace’ to be published and relayed to policy-makers on both sides of the Atlantic.
