The Youth Entrepreneurship Award, now in its sixth edition, aims to recognise young people who have chosen to become entrepreneurs, and aims to foster entrepreneurship in Europe.

This year's winner, presented at the AmCham EU 55th Anniversary Gala dinner, is Bioo from Spain.

The winner will receive 10,000 euros and mentorship from AmCham EU’s top European CEOs.

 

Bioo

Pablo Vidarte (Spain)

Bioo’s technology is based on a biological engine that obtains energy from the decomposition of organic substances naturally expelled by plants, liberating electrons and H2O in the process. No harm is made to any living organism.

GrowGreen

Irene Andreou (Cyprus)

GrowGreen is a biodegradable flower pot made from used coffee grounds, aimed to eliminate the use of plastic pots. It reduces carbon dioxide emissions and food waste at the same time.

Liight

Santiago Jimenez Cortes (Spain)

Liight is an app that motivates people to be more sustainable in daily routines. Through gamification and smart city system we encourage people to use public transport, ride bikes and recycle.

The winner of the AmCham EU Youth Entrepreneurship Award 2017 (Oculus) was revealed at AmCham EU's Gala 2017. This award showcases young people who have chosen to become entrepreneurs, and aims to foster entrepreneurship in Europe. The award was given for a fifth consecutive year in 2017! 

The AmCham EU Youth Entrepreneurship Award is supported by AmCham EU's Executive Council and organised in collaboration with JA Europe. The winner receives mentorship from top European CEOs.

The 2016 edition of the Youth Entrepreneurship Award was won by MeetingPackage.com (Joonas Ahola, Finland), an online platform dedicated to the booking of meeting rooms which allows users to easily compare various meeting venues and prices. Jurors praised its potential to scale, its sustainability and the team’s marketing plan.

The award was presented by Christian Morales, Corporate Vice President and General Manager EMEA, Intel, and Lowri Evans, Director-General for Internal Market, Industry, Entrepreneurship and SMEs, European Commission

 

The 2015 edition of the Youth Entrepreneurship Award was won by COOL4SEA (Christian Jensen, Denmark), an engineering firm working to develop thermodynamic, energy and environmental technologies for the international maritime industry. The jury commented on its commercial potential and praised its environmental considerations.

PYNK SYSTEMS  (David Mata Valdes, Spain), a start-up constructing ergonomic and smart office desks in the hope of boosting work productivity, was awarded the 2014 edition of the Youth Entrepreneurship Award. Jurors felt the focus on combining modern technology to aid manufacturing and engineering was highly innovative, as well as citing a well-coordinated business model in their decision.

The first edition of the Youth Entrepreneurship Award was awarded to Real Impact Analytics (Sébastien Deletaille and Loïc Jacobs van Merlen, Belgium). The jury recognised their ‘unique and innovative’ business model, ‘proving they can operate in a very competitive market.’
