Brussels, 7 July 2016 – The European Union has taken much-needed steps to tackle cyber threats. The proposal for a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) launched on 5 July offers the opportunity to boost industrial capabilities and encourage innovation. However the American Chamber of Commerce to the European Union (AmCham EU) believes the process for developing the PPP could have been more transparent and included input from companies and organisations that are actively engaged in developing cyber security solutions.

Looking ahead, AmCham EU looks forward to learning more about the terms and conditions for participation in the PPP and in particular the process for allocating the public funds to ensure it is transparent, fair, open and non-discriminatory. A robust PPP on cybersecurity will benefit researchers, developers, suppliers and users of cybersecurity across Europe.
