What are the global impacts of EU sustainability reporting and due diligence rules?
On Tuesday, 4 June, AmCham EU, in collaboration with Adrián Vázquez Lázara, MEP (EPP, ES), hosted a roundtable on the global impact of the Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive (CS3D) and the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD). The event brought together EU policymakers, international businesses and non-EU country representatives to discuss the ongoing challenges that EU sustainability reporting and due diligence requirements pose for global partners, and the state of play of the first Omnibus package.
The discussion included practical ways for policymakers to resolve legal uncertainties faced by third country partners and companies. AmCham EU stressed the importance of clearer rules, consistent enforcement across member states and support for third countries. Ensuring the practical workability of CS3D and CSRD is vital for global companies and essential to supporting the EU’s broader sustainability goals.
