AmCham EU hosted a delegation of 65 members from 60 member companies at the European Parliament’s monthly plenary meeting in Strasbourg. For two days, on 14 and 15 February 2017, the participants had a chance to exchange views with more than 94 MEPs from across the political group spectrum.

The aim of the dialogues was also to remind decision makers that AmCham EU members are dedicated to continuing to make the transatlantic relationship a vehicle for growth and prosperity, both in the EU and the US, even in times of trouble.

The delegation marked the release of the AmCham EU’s new study on the Single Market. With the conviction that facts and figures speak louder than words, the study captures the impact of the Single Market on each of the 28 Member States. A panel was organized as well to debut the study.

In order to better understand the priorities of the European Parliament for the remainder of their current terms, leaders of the main groups met with the AmCham EU members. The MEPs who presented their groups priorities were Hans van Baalen, President of the ALDE Party; Daniel Caspary of the EPP Group; Helga Stevens, Vice-Chair of the ECR Group; and Jeppe Kofod, Vice-President of the S&D Group.

The Secretary General of the European Parliament, Klaus Welle spoke to the members and more than 30 MEPs during a dinner in one of Strasbourg’s most iconic places, the Maison Kammerzell.

Together with POLITICO Europe and the EU40 Group, members had a chance to have breakfast with representatives of the new generation of politicians. The members were able to meet with MEPs representing their specific sector in a number of committee-specific streams throughout the delegation.

The “Big Strasbourg” delegation has been bringing representatives of the US business community and members of the European Parliament together for more than 20 years.
