AmCham EU discusses better regulation in environmental policy

For its final plenary meeting of the year, AmCham EU focused on better regulation in environmental policy and welcomed Daniel Calleja Crespo, Director General, DG Environment, as keynote speaker.

A panel moderated by Meglena Mihova, Partner, EPPA, and Chair of the Environment Committee, AmCham EU, addressed how the better regulation agenda can deliver on more coherent and efficient environmental policies. Dr. Jochem F.M. van der Waals, Senior Policy Advisor, Ministry of Infrastructure and the Environment, The Netherlands; Ekaterina Karamfilova, Ex-Post Impact Assessment Unit, European Parliament; and Leah Charpentier, Government Affairs Manager EMEA, Goodyear Dunlop and Vice-Chair of the Environment Committee, AmCham EU, completed the panel.

This discussion was followed by a keynote address by Daniel Calleja Crespo, Director General, DG Environment, European Commission.

AmCham EU members also discussed key environmental dossiers:

- Circular economy: The recently published package will bring new opportunities and help deliver on a sustainable development at the service of economic recovery;

- The historic agreement at COP21 this weekend and what it means for business in terms of predictability and opportunity;

- EU chemical policy and how the better regulation agenda will feed into the REACH review in 2017.
