AI Going Global: A multilateral approach to AI regulation

Town Hall on the Economic Recovery with Maria Teresa Fabregas Fernandez

On Monday, 11 October, AmCham EU hosted a Town Hall meeting on the Economic Recovery with Maria Teresa Fabregas Fernandez, Director, Recovery and Resilience Task Force, European Commission. During the meeting, we discussed the status of the EU’s recovery plan and what companies can do to help contribute to Europe’s recovery.

Associations and the ‘new normal’

The global pandemic has heavily impacted the way the EU bubble operates. On Tuesday, 5 October, Susan Danger, CEO, AmCham EU, took part in a hybrid event organised by EURACTIV to discuss how COVID-19 transformed the activities of Brussels-based organisations. She was joined by fellow association leaders, with whom she shared key trends and learnings from the pandemic. She also explored possibilities to strengthen the service offering of trade associations in a hybrid environment.

Regenerative agriculture for more sustainable farming

Investing in soil health systems is how agriculture can help enhance farmer livelihoods while reducing greenhouse gas emissions, conserving biodiversity, improving water quality and increasing drought resilience. In Europe, Cargill is working with Soil Capital on a project to help farmers in Belgium and France adopt regenerative agriculture practices like cover crops and reduced tillage through the use of a carbon farm management system, which helps farmers identify the best management practices to maximise the profitability of their land while minimising their greenhouse gas emissions.

Sustainable refrigerants such as Chemours’ Opteon™ XL and Opteon™ and Opteon™ XP can bring significant greenhouse gas emissions reductions as well as complying with the EU’s ever-more stringent environmental regulations in a wide variety of sectors covered by the EU’s Green Deal. That is because refrigerants based on HFO (Hydrofluoroolefins) have zero Ozone Depletion (ODP) potential and lower Global Warming Potential (GWP), placing them among the most environmentally sustainable refrigerants on the market.
