As AmCham EU's senior diplomatic corps, the Presidency Group works to influence the agenda of the European Council. It initiates substantive policy dialogues with national officials charged with the upcoming Presidency of the Council of the European Union, which is accomplished through preliminary meetings with the appropriate Permanent Representation in Brussels. This is followed by a delegation visit to the Member State capital, during which a report with recommendations to the Presidency is presented.
AmCham EU Presidency recommendations
Twice a year, AmCham EU's Presidency Group prepares comprehensive reports that summarise its recommendations to the upcoming Presidency of the Council of the European Union. These reports underline AmCham EU members' priorities for the Presidencies in every main policy area.
The Presidency group organises its communications according to AmCham EU’s Agenda for Action’s five drivers:
- Build skills for the future
- Drive integration to create an attractive Internal Market
- Embrace revolutionary change for industrial leadership
- Develop new models of innovation and entrepreneurship
- Lead by example towards global integration
The Presidency group is comprised of a select group of senior AmCham EU delegates who are fluent on sectoral issues, AmCham EU's priority issues and US-EU relations. The group is primarily, but not exclusively, composed of chairs or vice chairs of relevant committees.
