Members of the Board

Hendrik Bourgeois

Chair

Hendrik Bourgeois leads GE’s European Government Affairs team and is responsible for developing, implementing, and leading an integrated government affairs and policy strategy for GE towards the European Union and European government institutions. In his previous role, Hendrik was GE’s General Counsel for Europe. He also served as GE’s Senior Counsel of Competition, Regulation and Government Relations for Europe, and European General Counsel for GE Industrial Systems. Prior to joining GE in 1999, he worked for a US law firm in Washington D.C. and in Brussels. Hendrik obtained his law degree at the Rijksuniversiteit Gent, Belgium, and has an LL.M degree from Harvard Law School.  

Michelle Gibbons

Vice-Chair
Michelle Gibbons is Deputy Managing Director for Fleishman-Hillard in Brussels. In her 12-year career at Fleishman-Hillard, Michelle has advised clients on political, regulatory, and communications issues in a range of business sectors, notably FMCG, retail, biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, and financial services. As well as working with blue-chip companies, she advises trade associations and patient groups. Michelle is a former president of the Irish Belgian Business Association and graduated at University College Galway with a degree in business.

Karl Cox

Vice-Chair
Karl Cox serves as Vice President for Public Policy and Corporate Affairs, EMEA region for Oracle Corporation having joined Oracle in November 2005. From 1986 to 2005, Karl worked for IBM in both Brussels and its EMEA headquarters in Paris. Karl has contributed to AmCham EU activities in Brussels for nearly three decades, serving as the first staff director of the EU Committee of AmCham Belgium in the early 1980s. He serves as an Executive Committee Member and Secretary in one of Brussels' most active ICT sectoral trade associations and is a former board member of an international school in the Paris-Ile de France region. In addition to his diploma from the College of Europe, Karl has a Bachelor of Science degree in Foreign Service from Georgetown University in Washington, DC.

 

Vincent Jamois

Chair - Policy Group
Vincent Jamois is Vice President, Global Public Policy for Time Warner Europe. Based in Brussels. He is responsible for overseeing legislative and public policy issues that affect Time Warner and its divisions (Warner Bros. Entertainment, Turner Broadcasting System, HBO, Time Inc) in Europe. Before joining Time Warner in 2003, he served as Legal & Policy Advisor for the European Commission, and worked at the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs and at the French Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (ARCEP). Vincent holds an LLM in Community Law, a Masters Degree in European Law and a Masters Degree in Private and Business Law. He also has a Bachelors Degree in Economic Administration.

 

Thomas Spiller

Chair - Communications and Marketing Group
Thomas Spiller serves as Vice President, Public Policy, Europe, Middle East & Africa at The Walt Disney Company. From 2007 to 2011, Thomas served as Vice President, Global Public Policy at SAS, where he was charged with driving the SAS global public policy initiatives such as government reform, sustainability, defense and security, healthcare, education and innovation. Thomas has also served in the Office of the French Prime Minister, AREVA (the world largest nuclear services company) and for the Energy and Aviation divisions of General Electric. Thomas graduated from La Sorbonne University in Paris with degrees in Law, Political Science, Defense, and International Relations.

 

Penelope Naas

Chair - Operations Group
Penelope Naas is Managing Director for European Government Affairs at Citi, based in Brussels. Penelope works on a range of financial services, investment, and other related issues. She established the Citi Brussels office in June 2007, after joining Citi in April 2006 as Vice President and Chief of Staff in the Washington D.C. offices. Penelope has a strong background international trade, previously serving as Director of the office of European Union at the International Trade Administration of the Department of Commerce. She holds a master’s degree in International Trade and Public Policy, and a bachelor’s degree in Economics from the University of Michigan.

 

Maxime Bureau

Member-at-Large
Maxime Bureau is Director of Government and Public Affairs for Europe, 3M. He joined 3M in June 2011, where he leads its government and public affairs team. He his also a member of the 3M Executive Committee for Europe, which leads the company’s strategy and day-to-day management. Prior to 3M, Maxime served as Director for Public Policy and Investment for GE and he has also worked for Deloitte and the European Commission. He holds a Master’s degree in Economics from the University of Toulouse, a postgraduate in Economics from the College of Europe and an MBA from the University of New York in Prague.

Renato Addis

Member-at-Large
Renato Addis is a Partner at EPPA and acts as a commercial diplomat for business clients. Since joining in 1995, Renato has specialised in highly regulated and complex industry sectors, bridging specific client interests with broader political and socio-economic imperatives. His current activities primarily focus on the chemical, agricultural, environmental, consumer protection and transport sectors. Prior to joining EPPA, Renato previously worked at the European Commission, the Economic and Social Committee and the Committee of the Regions. He holds a Master’s degree in International and European Law from Leiden University, the Netherlands, and various additional certificates in Dutch Law.

Susan Danger

Managing Director AmCham EU
Susan Danger is Managing Director of AmCham EU. She joined the organisation in 1995 as Communications Manager, going on to become Communications and Operations Manager, and then finally Managing Director in 2002. Under her leadership, AmCham EU aims to ensure a growth-oriented business climate in Europe. Since 2009, she has also served as Vice-Chair of AmChams in Europe, a network of 43 AmChams around Europe. Born and educated in the UK, she began her career in London in various marketing and communication roles for Thomson Tour Operations. She has worked in the UK, Germany, Austria, Spain and Australia.
