Presidency Group

Presidency Group

Profile

As AmCham EU's senior diplomatic corps, the Presidency Group works to influence the agenda of the European Council. It initiates substantive policy dialogues with national officials charged with the upcoming Presidency of the European Union, which is accomplished through preliminary meetings with the appropriate Permanent Representation in Brussels, followed by a delegation visit to the Member State capital. A Report to the Presidency is subsequently published, which reflects the group's consultations and underscores AmCham EU's legislative priorities.

Current issues

The Presidency group organises its communications according to the three main AmCham EU drivers:

  • Furthering open markets

  • Pursuing balanced sustainable development

  • Fostering innovation

The Presidency group organises delegation visits to each member state holding the Presidency of the EU to meet with government officials to discuss the priorities and issues it intends to pursue during its Presidency.

Sectors represented

The Presidency group is comprised of a select group of senior AmCham EU delegates who are fluent on sectoral issues, AmCham EU's priority issues and US-EU relations, and who are primarily but not exclusively chairs or vice chairs of the relevant committees.
